Basic Formula Price Release Dates
This table presents USDA's monthly release dates for 1999 Basic Formula Price (BFP) announcements.  The BFP serves as the base price from which Class I, II and III prices under Federal Milk Market Orders are computed.  The BFP is calculated monthly and consists of two parts: (1)Survey based estimate of the price that manufacturing plants buying Grade B milk in Minnesota and Wisconsin paid farmers for milk during the previous month (base month price), and (2)Product price survey of the change in value of milk used to make cheese, butter and dry milk powder between the previous and current months (product price updater).  These values are combined to arrive at the announced BFP for the month.
